AMSOIL Dealer Income - Is it Worth It?  My Actual Earnings For October, 2019 and Goals for 2020

11/15/2019

Having been distracted by other business opportunities and a time consuming day job, my AMSOIL business has suffered a little in 2019.  However, as I mentioned in this earlier post, I am going to focus on growing my AMSOIL business in 2020.

The management consultant and author, Peter Drucker says "what gets measured, gets managed" so I'll publish these income reports primarily as a way for me to measure my progress.

Hopefully you will find it interesting as well or perhaps it will answer some of your questions about AMSOIL Dealer income or whether or not you should become an AMSOIL Dealer yourself

Before I get into my AMSOIL income details, please note that I am just an Independent Dealer.  I am far from the top but I suspect I earn more than the typical dealer does.  Also, I work my AMSOIL business on a very part-time basis.  I have a full time job and sell AMSOIL for extra income.  With that said, let's dig in...
October, 2019 Income (USD):
Goal: N/A
Actual:  $2123.23

Active Personal Customers:

What happened:
I really didn't do much of anything in October other than write a couple blog posts and post a Craigslist ad.  As you can see, I didn't have any goals set and really just let my AMSOIL business run on autopilot.  Although I am very grateful for the passive income, my lack of effort led to another decrease in income when compared to last year.

I did however decide in October to put some genuine effort back into my business moving forward.
2020 Income Goal by Month:
It looks like 2019 will finish with an approximate income of $24,000 USD or $2,000 per month.  To reach my goal of $4600 for the month of December, 2020 I'll need to increase my income by $250 per month each and every month of 2020.  Here's how I came to that conclusion:
AMSOIL Dealer Income
2020 Active Personal Customers Goal:
I crunched some numbers and each active customer is valued at $7.32.  I'll ignore the fact that some customer types are more valuable than others and just watch the total number of active customers.  Based on that, I need to add 32 new active personal customers per month to reach my income goal:
AMSOIL Business Opportunity

Action to be taken:
Reaching my goal of $4600 in monthly income by December, 2020 is going to be a challenge.

They say however that you have to set challenging goals if they are to motivate you.  I'm going to work on staying focused, eliminated distractions and sharpening my skills as I finish out 2019 and movie into 2020.

If I break my goals down, all I have to do is find just one new customer per day.  I don't think that will be too hard.

Once again, these posts are primarily for my own use, to help me clear my thoughts and measure my progress toward my goals but I hope this helps you in some way.

'till next

Become an AMSOIL Dealer in Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and PEI

How to Sell AMSOIL in Nova Scotia and New Brunswick
I had a phone call the other day from one of my retail accounts in New Brunswick.  They are really nice folks and place a stocking order every month or two.

The problem is, I'm in BC and they are about as far away from me as possible.  They are accustomed to having sales rep call on them in person to answer questions, introduce new products and check stock etc.  They don't really like phoning or emailing me with questions so they asked if I had a colleague that could drop by to see them from time-to-time.  Unfortunately, I don't have another AMSOIL dealer on my team in that area so I had to so no.

This got me thinking...I need to grow my dealer team in the Maritimes.

Do you live and work in Nova Scotia, New Brunswick or PEI or do you know of anyone that lives and works in the Maritimes that is already calling on auto parts stores and mechanic shops?  If so, I would love to help them become an AMSOIL Dealer and I may even be able to transfer this account to him/her depending on where exactly they live.

You can learn more about becoming an AMSOIL Dealer here but let them know that AMSOIL Dealers are Independent business owners and are paid 100% on commission.  He or she would be able to work full-time or part-time but I'd really prefer to work with someone that is already in sales and has a very strong desire to grow the business in the area.

I'll help just about anyone with honesty and integrity become a dealer and will do my best to help even if all they are looking for is the opportunity to earn some extra money but the ideal candidate would already be in sales, calling on retail stores, automotive shops, motorsports dealers etc.

Alternatively, the new dealer could be calling on commercial operations such as mining, logging, fishing, forestry etc. where the dealer's accounts would have a use for our products.

If you know of anyone that may be interested in my help in becoming an AMSOIL Dealer in Nova Scotia, New Brunswick or PEI, please share this post with him/her or better yet, contact me with their info and I'll reach out directly

Thanks,

Rob

The Power of Focus in Your AMSOIL Business

11/11/2019

AMSOIL Focus RS
I'm writing this post for myself - to remind me to stay focused but maybe you'll get some value from it as well...

One of the biggest challenges I face as an entrepreneur is losing focus.  With some many opportunities available, I find myself moving from one idea to the next to the next and often at the detriment to what is truly important.  Sometimes I'll stick with an idea for a few months, other times I find myself flip flopping several times per day!  Not only does this slow down my progress in all areas, it creates a lot of unnecessary  stress.

Like I mentioned last week, 2020 is the year that I have committed to focusing on my AMSOIL business and believe it or not, this will be an enormous challenge for me.  Is I am writing this, I am thinking about my other businesses and the income opportunities that I haven't even started yet but I know, focusing will bring me the success that I am seeking with AMSOIL.

In his book, The One Thing, Garry Keller talks about how being singular of mind is the answer to finding more success and less stress.  I highly recommend that book by the way.

How will I stay focused on AMSOIL in 2020
  1. I will not start any new businesses.
  2. I will write down any ideas I have for new businesses but will not take any action on those ideas
  3. I will refer out all new clients in my day job
  4. I will read my AMSOIL goal daily and share that goal with my friends and family so that they can remind me to stay focused

Small reminders to stay focused
I am re-designing my workspace.  I spend the majority of my time in my home office at my computer.  In addition to reading my AMSOIL goals daily, I am setting up some visual reminders including
  1. Set my computer desktop image to be the Ford FOCUS in the picture above - DONE
  2. Hang my AMSOIL Calendar on the wall beside my computer - DONE
  3. Order myself an AMSOIL coffee mug and water bottle to use at my computer - DONE

The Big One - connect with a team
I think one of the most important things I can do is build a team of like minded people around me that are also committed to building an AMSOIL business.  I have a few guys on my team that are doing well that I haven't spoken to for a while.  For team building in 2020, I plan to
  1. Reach out to each dealer in my team and try to re-connect
  2. Help others discover the AMSOIL business and build a relationship with him/her if needed.  This will benefit me as well as the other person

Oh, by the way
You may notice that I post links to AMSOIL products and the AMSOIL business opportunity throughout this website and in my blog posts.  If you would like to support me, please use those links and my referral number (5110482) when you purchase your AMSOIL products or, if you would like to join my AMSOIL team

Welcome to My New AMSOIL Dealer Blog!

Hi and welcome to my new AMSOIL dealer blog page!  I'm glad you stopped by.

I created this blog for two reasons:
  1. To help me journal my experiences as an AMSOIL dealer and clarify my thoughts.  I plan to talk about my income goals, what is working for me, and what isn't.  My hope is that by writing down or journaling my experiences, it will help me stay focused on my goals and also make positive progress.
  2. A side benefit of my writing is that my thoughts may help you either become an AMSOIL dealer or, if you already are one, to find success by following some of what is working for me as well.

A little more information about me
I've been an AMSOIL Dealer since mid 2014.  I initially stumbled upon the AMSOIL business opportunity while searching for synthetic oil for my diesel Mercedes Sprinter RV.  In an attempt to save some money on my own purchases, I signed up to become a dealer.  Based on the fact that I was just trying to get a discount on my own purchases, I probably should have just become a Preferred Customer but boy am I glad I "accidentally" become a dealer and not a Preferred Customer.

After a few months of receiving the monthly magazines from AMSOIL, I could see the potential to also earn a little extra money on the side so I started to dabble with a few Craigslist ads and started to make a few sales.  Most of my sales were to guys with Harley Davidson motorcycles that wanted some 20W-50.  I'd purchase a case of 20W-50 and store it in my basement then guys would come to my house to pick up between 3-5 quarts and I'd make $10 or so.  I wasn't getting rich but it was fun.

Then, something unexpected happened...I got a cheque (check) in the mail from AMSOIL for $16 USD.  Huh?!  Why did they send me a cheque????   As it turns out, not only could I earn profits from buying the oil at wholesale then selling it at retail, I could also earn commissions on my sales.

That's when the light finally turned on!

After that, I started to dig in to the AMSOIL business further and learn how it all works.

My AMSOIL dealer income
Part of the reason I created this blog is to keep track of my past income.  I'll share my earnings in more detail in future posts but here is a quick summary

Note:  Even though I am in Canada, I am able to sell throughout North America and AMSOIL pays me in USD so I'll report everything in USD

2014 - Approximately $600 USD.  I suppose if I tried hard enough, I could find the actual number but, I seam to recall earning somewhere around $600 USD in my first year - this was just a 1/2 year

2015 - Approximately $6000 USD.  I honestly don't recall my exact income but I remember thinking to myself that I had earned enough to make a car payment and also remember setting a goal for the coming year to have my income cover my mortgage payment

2016 - $23,794 USD.  The AMSOIL Dealer back-end shows my actual income each month for the current year and three previous years.  Holy cow...things are growing and looking good!

2017 - $27,570 USD.  This has been my best year to-date.

2018 - $20,866 USD.  2018 was an interesting year.  I essentially quite my AMSOIL business to focus on my day job.  This was both a good and bad thing.  The bad was that my AMSOIL income went down.  The good was I did virtually nothing and still earned $20,866 USD!

2019 - As of September, I'm at $17,079 so will likely finish the year at around $23,000 USD or so.  I may also qualify for a growth bonus of approximately $1000 USD.  I did a little bit more work on my AMSOIL business in 2019 vs 2018 but, for the most part, this is fairly passive income.

My Goal For 2020
I've decided that 2020 will be a year that I put more effort into my AMSOIL business and as such, have set the following challenging but attainable financial goal for myself.

"In 2020, I will focus all of my efforts on growing my AMSOIL business such that my typical monthly earnings will be $4600 USD by December.  This will allow me to become a full-time AMSOIL dealer starting January 1st, 2021"
Thanks again for reading this far, if you have any questions about becoming an AMSOIL dealer yourself feel free to give me a call or send me an email.
